DeWayne Bollig, age 63, of Aldrich, passed away at the CentraCare Long Prairie Nursing Home, on Thursday, February 23, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, at 10:30 AM, at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Bluegrass, MN. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5-7, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Little Falls. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
DeWayne Richard Bollig was born on June 2, 1948, to Richard and Grace (Hill) Bollig, in St. Cloud, MN. In his teen years, he moved to Circle Pines and graduated from Centennial High School. In 1967, DeWayne entered the US Army and served 3 tours in Vietnam, earning two Purple Hearts. DeWayne married Kimberly Stroud on May 12, 2001, in Watertown, SD. DeWayne was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans and was a Christian Motorcyclist. He enjoyed photography, had a good sense of humor, and was a gifted listener.
DeWayne is survived by his wife, Kim; children, Joshua Sommer, Sandra Sommer, Matt Bollig, Jason Bollig, and Richard Bollig; five grandchildren; sisters, Cheryl and Wanda; stepmother, Bernice; half siblings, Barbara, Audrey, Sharon, Steve, and Greg; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ely; a son, Brian; his parents; and grandparents.
