Dennis Schauer

December 29, 1937 — July 7, 2016

Dennis V. Schauer, 78, of Deerwood, MN passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, July 7, 2016. Services for Dennis will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 1:30PM at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baxter, MN with Pastor Bill Werth officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:30PM at the church.

Dennis was born on December 29, 1937 in New Ulm, MN to Vernon and Marie (Bogatski) Schauer. He graduated from Arlington High School before joining the Army Reserve. Dennis married Lois Fries on September 20, 1958. In 1961, he was called up in the WI National Guard and served in Tacoma, Washington. Dennis worked for the city of Montrose as an engineer. He served as a Montrose, MN fireman for 17 years serving as chief for several of those years. Dennis was a member of the Montrose Lions club for many years. Dennis and Lois have always been in business for themselves, owning the 12-HI Mobile Home Park and building the 12-HI Superette in Montrose. Once retired, they spent ½ of the year in Mesa, AZ and ½ of the year in Deerwood, MN. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, golfing with friends, and woodworking.

Dennis is survived by is wife, Lois; daughters, Tamara (Lonnie) Weber of Montrose, MN and Theresa Schauer (Patrick Larkin) of Shakopee, MN; grandchildren, Justinne Matthees of Howard Lake, MN and Joshua (Samantha) Matthees of Bemidji, MN; great-grandson, Tanner Matthees; brother, Douglas (Bobette) Schauer of Arlington, MN; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Marie.
