Dennis Ohlsson

February 21, 1928 — March 17, 2007

Dennis Ohlsson, age 79, of Brainerd, passed away early Saturday morning at the St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 21, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Kristin Kelsey officiating. Interment will be in Dykeman Union Cemetery of rural Brainerd. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at First Lutheran Church and for one hour prior to Services on Wednesday.
Dennis Arvid Ohlsson was born on February 21, 1928, in Galva Township, Hurry County, Illinois, the son of Arvid and Karin (Bergstom) Ohlsson. As a young man his family moved to Minneapolis. After his schooling he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving from 1945 until 1948. Returning to Minnesota he attended Dunwoody Institute where he completed the tool and die making course. He worked for several different companies including Minneapolis Moline and Tonka Toys. On September 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Mathisen in Mound, MN. To this union 4 children were born. Dennis and Evelyn were able to share over 58 years of marriage together. In 1973 they moved to Brainerd and he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in the early 1990's.

Dennis was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Among the things he enjoyed usually involved being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping. He dearly loved his family and truly enjoyed being with all of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvid and Karin; daughter, Kathleen Lodermeier; sister, Alice Fiscus; and son-in-law, Ed Marks. Dennis is mourned in passing by Evelyn, his loving wife of 58 years; children, Denise Marks of Brainerd, Kenneth (Sandy) Ohlsson of Maple Plain, and Lisa (Randy) Perlinger of Brainerd; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Gunnard (Norma) Ohlsson of Champaign, IL; and sister, Gulli Lindstrom of Sweden.
