Dennis L. House, 72, of Baxter, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Brandon Moravitz officiating. Family and friends are welcome to visit Monday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. The Elks will provide a service for Denny during Monday night's visitation. Interment will take place at Baxter City Cemetery.
Dennis was born February 11, 1940, in Cloquet, MN, the son of Lester and Threasa (Gray) House. After high school, Denny married Karel Franklin on December 6, 1958. He started working for Northwest Paper Company in Cloquet before being transferred to Potlatch in Brainerd in 1963 as a Coater Supervisor and later, Maintenance Coordinator. In 1996, Denny retired, but he stayed busy. He enjoyed woodworking, maintaining his yard, and going camping with friends. He was an avid Nascar fan. He volunteered for the Elks and was also a trustee. He did everything but play golf. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and friend to everyone who entered his life. We've always been amazed by his courage, strength, and determination but never so much as in the past few months during his illness. He led by example and was admired by all.
He will be missed by many, including his wife, Karel; daughter, Kathleen Vandeputte; sons, Richard (Debbi), Michael (Ginger), and Patrick (Sandy); sister, Myrna Beaupre; grandchildren, Kinsey House Zellerhoff, Ben House, Brandon Cizek, Colton Vandeputte, Amanda House, and Sam House; and great-grandchildren, Kyler House, Tiersa Zellerhoff and Laila Zellerhoff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Threasa and Lester.
