Dennis Herman Dischinger was born in Dayton, MN to parents Herman and Alice (Scharber) Dischinger on April 9, 1939. He was raised in Fletcher on the family farm and attended St Walburga Catholic Church. He graduated from St Michael High School in 1958.
Dennis married Drusilla Prybilla and raised five sons. He married Lynne (McHugo) Bird and brought her two children into the family. He married Mary (Fraser) Hoag in 2013 and was welcomed by her three grown children.
“Denny” was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He worked a variety of jobs in the twin cities area including Tennant Company, Honeywell Inc. and Consolidated Freightways. When he retired in 2004 he moved to Crosslake. He was a member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church where he was active as an usher and dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, specifically on the “wood crew” cutting, splitting and delivering firewood as a fundraiser for the Knights charitable endeavors.
Denny died on May 8 from complications of bladder cancer. He is survived by his wife Mary of 8 years, sisters Margaret Brausen and Mary Schwab. His five sons, Randy, Mpls, Terry (Nancy), Mpls, Rick (Peggy) of Elk River, Todd (Michelle), Crosslake and George (Angie) of Brainerd; his stepchildren Angie (Paul) Warosh and Thomas Bird; his stepchildren Jenny (John) Bestenlehner of Kentucky, Jeffrey (Sandi) Hoag, Nisswa and Brian (Shannon) Hoag of Ogden, Utah. He leaves a total of 27 grandchildren plus 16 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ramona, first wife Drusilla, and second wife Lynne.
Visitation at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake from 5:00 – 7:00 Sunday, May 23. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 24 at Immaculate Heart Church, Crosslake at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be on Tuesday, May 25 at 1:00 PM at St Walburga Cemetery in Fletcher.
