Denise Marks

Denise June Marks, 60, of Brainerd, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 12, 2012 at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Kristin Oltmann officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to services Thursday morning at the church. Interment will be held at Dykeman Union Cemetery.

Denise was born June 5, 1951, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Dennis and Evelyn (Mathisen) Ohlsson. After graduating from Wayzata High School, she was united in marriage to Edward Marks in Virginia Beach, VA, on September 18, 1971. The couple moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area in 1973. They founded Mar Tek Electronics Corporation in Onamia in 1994 and through hard work and many long hours they established a successful family business. Ed passed away in 2004.

Denise loved her family. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially family camping trips. For 47 years the family has maintained the tradition of camping at Lake Jeanette. Denise also liked to read and fish. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Denise will be missed by her mother, Evelyn Ohlsson, of Brainerd; children, Andrea (Elvis) Nieken, of Brainerd, Jeffrey (Lisa) Marks, of Brainerd, and Lea Marks, of Brainerd; sister, Lisa (Randy) Perlinger, of Brainerd; brother, Kenny (Sandy) Ohlsson, of Maple Plain; grandchildren, Ryan, Karyn, Zaida, Danielle, Josh, and Jake; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nephews and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her father, Dennis Ohlsson; and her sister, Kathy Lodermeier.
