Delwyn Chapin

March 11, 1929 — November 14, 2011

Delwyn Jean Chapin, age 82 of Winston, OR went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2011. She was born on March 11, 1929 in Harlingen, Texas to Dale and Florence Carey. After her dad passed away, her mom married Harley Eder and they moved to Minnesota in 1938. On July 14, 1947, she married Kenneth Ray Chapin in Staples, Minnesota. She belonged to the Ladies Birthday Club in Poplar, Minnesota. They lived on a dairy farm until they moved to Winston, Oregon in 1959. Delwyn worked for several doctors in the area. She was active in church, teaching Sunday school and Junior Church. She also taught a Good News Club for ten years, and was in Bible Study Fellowship for eleven years. Redeemer's Fellowship was her place of worship. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and flower arranging. She was a Master Gardener, member of the Rainbow Garden Club and a member of the Winston Art Association. Husband Kenny, son Darrell and daughter Cindy preceded her in death, as well as, sister Aline Spencer, mother Florence Eder and step father Harley Eder. She is survived by daughters, Peggy and husband Arlie Paulson of Winston, Carol and husband David Huber of Columbus, OH, Joanne and husband Dan of Roseburg, and Anita and husband Bob of Portland, OR. She also has 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by sister, Carolyn and husband Leland Nyberg of Hibbing, MN, brother-in-law Lonn Spencer of Staples, MN and by brother Don and wife Dorothy Carey of International Falls, MN. She will be interred to rest at the Poplar Cemetery, Poplar, MN. There will be a viewing at Brenny Funeral Home, Staples MN on Saturday, Nov. 19th from 10:00 to 11:00 and then a graveside service from 12:00 to 12:30, weather permitting. Then, there will be a luncheon at 1:00 at the Leader Hall.
