Delphia Elling, age 90, of Pequot Lakes, passed away early Tuesday morning at the Pine River Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Care Center. Funeral Service will be on Friday, 11:00 AM, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes with Reverend Mike Marcum officiating, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Delphia A. Elling was born on January 26, 1918, in Ashland, Wisconsin to David and Louise (Stickel) Miller. She moved to the Cities at a very young age. She met Harold Elling and they were married in 1946. In 1969 they moved to Pequot Lakes, where she owned and operated the Elling Floral Shop in Pequot Lakes and Pine River. Delphia also operated a resort, laundromat and the Pequot Lakes Motel. After her retirement she enjoyed knitting, working with flowers, and fishing. Delphia was a member of the Pequot Lakes Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Barbara and Francis Hite of Cottage Grove, Oregon, Terry and Jim Kientop of Backus, David and Diane of Lakeview, Arkansas, Harold and Carrie of Pequot Lakes; one sister, Maxine and Elmer Eckardt of Pequot Lakes; special friend Ernie Kouba of Pequot Lakes; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold and her daughter, Sandy.
