Delores Swenson

Delores Swenson, 52, of Staples, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2015 at CentraCare Health in St. Cloud, MN. Funeral services for Delores will be 10:30AM, Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, with Pastor Steve Sveom officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. Interment West Lyons Cemetery, near Oylen.

Delores was born June 28, 1962 in Wadena, MN to Harlan and Shirley (Worden) Swenson. She was baptized and confirmed Lutheran in Park Rapids where she spent many of her childhood years. Delores graduated from Bemidji High School in 1980. After gradation, Delores served in the Military. She lived in various states including Texas, California, and Nevada. While in California, she married Warren Barrier. She moved back to Staples in 2010 to be near family. Until recently, she worked at The Rising Phoenix. During her free time, her passion was handcrafting cards and gifts for loved ones. She loved to draw and color pictures to include in the letters and gifts she gave freely. Delores also enjoyed going to church for Sunday service.

Delores is survived by her daughters, Brittany and Lexi; brothers, Jerry Swenson of Osakis, Ronald Swenson of St. Cloud; sisters, Kay (Robert) Pihlaja of Nisswa, Patricia Swenson of Osage, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Shirley; sister Cheryl and brother, Tommy. The family of Delores wishes to thank Seasons Adult Foster Care for the compassion and friendship shown to Delores and her family. During her time there, she formed many close relationships that helped make Seasons truly her home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
