Delbert C. Fuller, MSgt, USAF, Ret; born April 8, 1937 to Clarence and Martha (Behncke) Fuller of Warroad, Minnesota and is the great-grandson of Jeremiah Fuller, of Bolton, Connecticut who responded to the Lexington Alarm. Delbert answered his last Reveille Call by his Commander in Chief, Monday May 14, 2018.
Delbert grew up in the old Peppermint Creek School house his father purchased and moved to their homestead south of Pitt, Minnesota in Lake of the Woods County. He attended Pitt Country School and graduated from Baudette High School. He graduated from college with lab and X-ray technician degrees, completed Biblical Studies certificate and Berean School of the Bible course.
Looking for adventure Delbert took a job in Torrington, Wyoming where he met and later married the love of his life, Martha Brotzman, on December 7, 1958.
Delbert joined the US Air Force in 1959 and worked in his trained fields for over 20 years retiring as an instructor in 1980. During his active duty years, he was assigned by his Commander in Chief to bases all over the United States, England, and South East Asia and finally back to Minnesota retiring as a X-Ray technician from Kanabec County Hospital after 20 years in 2000.
The most earth changing intervention in Delbert’s life came when Mennonite Missionaries reached out to him, with what some perceive to be an ancient and trivial story, about a man named Christ. He, like all of us, had to/will have to make a decision with this information. It all comes down to this question; an Empty Tomb?
While on active duty and in retirement Delbert’s life was focused on biblical studies and outreach. He drove an old banana yellow school bus to pick up kids for Sunday school, was an adult Sunday school teacher, and from 1976 until his death was a Royal Ranger and Frontiersmen Camping Fraternity Commander holding state and local positions in Illinois and Minnesota. The Rangers are in 70 nations, with life long, Christlike character formation outreach programs for boys and men.
Delbert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha; children: Edwin, Kevin (Karla), Darren (Krista) and Brenda (Michel) Kougang, grandchildren: Natasha, Michael, Ashly, Dakota, and Colt; great-grandchildren: Hunter and Serenity and his brother: Rollie (Aldyne).
