Delano Grant Erickson, 84, of Baxter, MN died at Northern Lakes Assisted Living, after a courageous battle with cancer, in Baxter, MN on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Delano was born on July 22, 1933 in Mud Lake Refuge, MN to Oscar and Myrtle (Knutson) Erickson. Some of the things that he loved to do was deer hunt with Lawrence Gutterud and gossip that week each year. He liked to go on summer trips to fish and enjoy the outdoors with his family. He was a social butterfly and walked daily. He also enjoyed reading westerns and watching The History Channel, The Price Is Right, and Wheel of Fortune. If you called him between 10 am and 11 am or between 6:30pm and 7pm his priority was watching his shows. Now you know why he didn’t answer the phone!

Delano is survived by his children, Sheryl Erickson of Monticello, MN and Perry (Heidi) Erickson of Pillager, MN; two grandchildren, Emily (Kleighton) Horbal of Dayton, MN and April Erickson of Superior, WI; one great-grandson, Greysen Horbal; siblings, Irene Molskness of Rochester, MN, Grace Olson of Ridgefield, WA, MN, Garner (Julie) Erickson of Middle River, MN, Donald (Sharon) Erickson of Arizona, Wavell (Sarah) Erickson of Thief River Falls, MN June Sipkens of Thief River Falls; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Erickson; parents, Oscar and Myrtle; first wife, Marian (Gutterud) Erickson; second wife, Dorothy Erickson; siblings, Marlo Anderson, Blanche Palm, Carmen Schultz, Oliver “Gub” Erickson, Harold Erickson, and Galen Erickson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
