Deane Coleman Niswonger was born November 16, 1929 to Everett and Louise Niswonger at Flora, Indiana. Deane passed away January 6, 2015 at Brainerd, MN after battling cancer for many years.
Deane was preceded in death by his parents, Pastor Everett Niswonger, mother, Louise Niswonger, and brother, Thomas Niswonger.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy (nee Pedersen) currently residing in Hackensack,MN; one brother, Dr. Richard (Grace) Niswonger, Tahlequah, OK; sisters Charity (Dr. Robert)Westcott, Rossville, GA and Norma (John) Acuff, Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law Barbara, Rossville, GA and many 2nd and 3rd generation nieces and nephews.
Deane and Dorothy lived in Chicago, IL for several years after their marriage and then for a period of time at Chicamauga, GA, before moving to Poquet Lake near Hackensack, MN in1992.
When Deane was 16 years of age he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and served on Guam Island during 1945. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1948 to 1953 - part of that time in the Korean theatre of operations. In the 1950s he was a member of the Long Beach, CA Police
Department.
Dean was involved in church activities wherever he lived. On many occasions he filled an empty pulpit for a Sunday service.
A memorial service will be held Thursday January 15, 2015, 2:00 PM at The Lighthouse Evangelical Free Church, 224 State 371 N, Hackensack, MN.
