DeAndre L. Harris' first sunrise was July 27, 1978, in Chicago, IL at Rush Presbyterian Hospital. In June of 1989, he was baptized by Rev. S.D. Durrell at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. It was the start of a very faithful life. DeAndre stood on the Word. He attended high school at Holy Trinity and accepted a college scholarship to play football in Denver. He lived in the Brainerd Lakes Area for 18 years. His DJ Company, Stealth Mode Entertainment was successful because of DeAndre's love for music and for entertaining.
DeAndre was a strong-willed man with a passion for debates - especially those involving politics. He enjoyed the challenge of convincing you of his view. He felt a responsibility to his country, his family and his friends. His kind heart and selfless nature rewarded him with many cherished relationships - as a son, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. No relationship mattered more to him than the one he shared with his children. One of his last wishes was for his children to know how much he loves them and how much he will miss them. DeAndre had an infectious energy that never failed to bring smiles and laughter to those near him. He also enjoyed supporting his Chicago teams - the Cubs and ‘da Bears.
He will be missed by many and is survived by his mom and step-father, Samanthia and Steve Weatherspoon, of Chicago; children, Josh and Makayla Hanna, of Bemidji, Makayla Matich, of Brainerd; and Maria Harris, of Brainerd; brother, Deyonne Fowler, of Chicago; step-sister, Nicole Wardell, of Chicago; aunts, Valerie and Alisha Harris, of Chicago; uncle, Steven Harris, of Chicago; godparents, Willie and Elsie Martinez, of Chicago; god-siblings, Russell Watts, Jose Velez, and Nina Garay, of Chicago; and many cousins, uncles, nephews, nieces, and friends. He is also survived by his Minnesota Family, Dana Uhrich and Tiffany Berg, along with their children, AydreAnna Berg (DeAndre's Goddaughter) and Brynn Uhrich, Dan Braaten, and Justin and Laurie Goble, along with their children, Atika and Kennidi.
He was preceded in death by many beloved family members and friends.
DeAndre's final sunset was June 10, 2016.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, June 17 at Christ Community Church in Nisswa. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church Thursday evening from 5-8 PM and one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment will take place in Chicago, IL.
