Dawn Powell

Dawn Powell, age 62, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, at her home in Backus. She was born July 17, 1959, in Bemidji, MN, grew up in the Northome, MN area and graduated from Blackduck High School. Dawn met her husband, Howard, in the summer of 1973 and they were engaged in August of 1975. They married on March 10, 1979. Dawn and Howard moved to Backus in 1983.
Dawn was a hard worker all of her life. She volunteered at Celebrate Recovery in Pine River and was passionate about children’s ministries, teaching Sunday School at Church of the Nazarene in Backus and Riverview Church in Pine River. Dawn enjoyed the simple things in life, such as hanging clothes on the line, the sound of windchimes blowing in the wind, vegetable and flower gardening, raising chickens and watching birds at her bird feeders.
Dawn is survived by her husband, Howard; daughters, Natasha Lockwood (Jason Anderson), Fanessa Schneider (Pat); grandchildren: Arron Lockwood, Natalie and Hayley Schneider; siblings: Eric McFadden (Kathy), Rheva Turner (Mark), Matt McFadden, Sara Willis; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Margaret McFadden; and sister, Loretta Hagstrom.
Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, February 12, at Riverview Church, Pine River. Memorials are preferred to Celebrate Recovery c/o Riverview Church.
