David Gene Skaalerud, 69, of Lake Shore, died at his home Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, February 12 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with Pastor David Uhrich officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services.
David was born August 22, 1942, in rural Willmar, MN, the son of Harry and Luella (Bendickson) Skaalerud. Following his graduation from Hopkins High School, David was united in marriage to Susan Ronnei. While living in St. Louis Park, David attended Minnesota School of Business before working at Pako which later became Pakon Photographic Equipment. When they moved to Lake Shore, David semi-retired but continued to stay busying assisting the Nisswa Post Office with delivery.
David enjoyed photography and working with stained-glass. He liked to bake, fish, camp, scout, and travel. He also was fond of remodeling projects.
He will be missed by his wife, Susan; children, David (Brenda) Skaalerud, of Zimmerman, John (Wendy) Skaalerud, of St. Bonifacius, and Jeanne (Kurt) Schulte, of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Jessica, Taryn, Annabelle, Andrew, Tanner, Karl, Allison, and Erik; sisters, Lorraine Erwin, Alice Akenson, Louise "Tudy" Greenwood, and Caren Carlson; and brother, James. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Thomas; parents; sisters, Barbara, Ione, and Margie "Julie"; and his brothers, Harlan "Jermone" and Gary.
