David Roberts, 59, of Staples, MN died on Monday, September 10th, 2018 of natural causes in Staples. Services for David will be on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at 11:00 am at Motley Free Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
David was born on November 29th, 1958 in Staples, MN to Richard and Gladys (Melsness) Roberts. He graduated from Staples High School in 1977. David attended NDSU, where he participated on the wrestling team. He worked as a brakeman for Burlington Northern Railroad for 10 years, as a local mail carrier for USPS for 10 years, and most recently as a carrier for UPS for 15 years. David married Lani Longbella on September 23rd, 1989 in Staples. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, traveling, photography, and time with family and friends.
David is survived by his children, Hailey Roberts, MD of Ann Arbor, MI and Tanner Roberts, PharmD candidate, of Staples, MN; parents, Richard and Gladys Roberts of Staples, MN; siblings Lindy Ellenbaum of Minneapolis, MN, Steven Ellenbaum of Motley, MN, Russel and Linda Ellenbaum of Topeka, KS, Scott Ellenbaum of Motley, MN, Douglas and Dianne Roberts of Staples, MN, James and Mary Ellen Roberts of Oconomowoc, WI, and Susan Roberts of Sartell, MN. He was preceded in death by his sibling Michael Roberts. Services have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN
