David Lundstrom

David Milton Lundstrom, age 60, of Wadena, formerly of the Pillager/Brainerd area, journeyed into heaven on Friday, February 24, 2017, at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena. David’s Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, February 28, at 11 AM, at the Family Life Church in Verndale. Visitation will be Monday, February 27, from 5-7 PM, also at Family Life Church in Verndale.

Dave was born on July 24, 1956 in Rochester, New York, to Richard and Joan Lundstrom. His family lived in many northern Minnesota communities, but Dave Called Floodwood his home, where he graduated from Floodwood High School in 1974. After high school, he lived in Duluth for a year and got his first taste of working in a small, but busy, bakery. He then moved to the Twin Cities area, where he attended Anoka Technical College and then North Central Bible College, where he met his wife, Jan. Dave married Janice “Jan” Theel of Paynesville on December 29, 1979. They were blessed with two sons, Jonathan and Charles “Charlie”. Dave was a minister for ten years, pastoring in Menahga, Walker, and Pillager (Casino Assembly of God). After the years of pastoring, he and Jan went into the bakery business in Brainerd, first as employees, then buying the business and owning it for twelve years. After closing the bakery, Dave and Jan moved to Wadena, where he worked for Abby’s Bakery and then for Lund/Crestliner Boats in New York Mills. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, playing guitar, handyman projects, tinkering on many things, family, and baking. He loved his family and adored his granddaughters. Dave enjoyed life, Hawaiian shirts, and tie-dye. He touched and affected many lives. He fought hard in his 18-month cancer battle, during which he endured cancer in three separate locations in his body.

Dave is survived by Jan, his loving wife of 37 years; his sons, Jonathan (Tabitha), of Bemidji and Charlie (fiancé Emma) of Moorhead; granddaughters Abigail and Naomi, of Bemidji; his mother, Joan Lundstrom, of Park Rapids; a sister, Jeanne (Jon) Nauman, of Ramsey; two brothers, Tim (Laurie) of Fargo, ND and Dan (Linda), of Cottage Grove; and several nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Richard, in 2013; and his paternal and maternal grandparents. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples.
