David Don Keepers, 78, of Backus, Minnesota, and Mesa, Arizona, passed away July 6th, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.
Dave was born on October 28, 1945, to Helen and Glen Keepers in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in Richfield and graduated from high school in 1963. He attended St. Olaf College and then the University of Minnesota with a degree in engineering. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from October 6,1969 to September 28,1971. Dave married Virginia Komidar on July 14, 1973. Dave’s 30 year career was with the Minnesota Fire Marshal Division. He retired July 1, 2003.
Dave’s passion was fishing for walleyes and hunting while enjoying the great outdoors. His travels with his wife, Ginny, usually included one of these passions.
He will be missed by family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Kathy Friend (Sherald); sister-in-law, Barb Keepers; nieces, Kelly Shea (Robb), Jaclyn Vogt (Brad), and Tamara Friend; nephew, Dustin Friend (Juli); 2 great nieces, Kaylee and Izabella Vogt; and 2 great nephews, Bryce Vogt and Eli Friend.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 23rd, at Kline/Brenny Funeral Home located at 3042 MN-371 in Pine River, Minnesota.
