David Horak

David George Horak, 69, of Brainerd, died Monday, February 24, 2014. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services and stay for a reception to follow in the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion.

David was born June 23, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, IA, to George and Dorothy (Soukup) Horak. Following high school and college, David owned and operated a dairy and beef farm. In 1979, he married Lorena Theisen. He cherished time with his family - especially his children and grandchildren. David enjoyed John Deere tractors, mining and country music. He also liked traveling to Alaska, snowmobiling, reading, camping and dancing. He was a member of the National Guard.

He will be missed by his wife, Lorena; children, Denise (Duane) Stange, of Brainerd, Tim (Kelly) Hartness, of Farmington, Kim (Joel) Molash, of Brainerd, Mike (Kari) Horak, of Brainerd, Mark (Jenni Blessing) Horak, Brainerd, and Michele (Ray) Johnson, of Brainerd; 14 grandchildren; and siblings, Robert Horak, of Brainerd, Mary Kollodge, of Brainerd; Kathy Welch, of Pierz, Tammy Benjamin, of Brainerd, and Jim Horak, of Brainerd. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Rollie Kollodge.
