David Gravdahl

David Dean Gravdahl was born on September 8, 1938, to Arvid and Lorraine (Nylander) Gravdahl in Pequot Lakes. He was the first born of 8 children, growing up on the family farm in Pequot Lakes. Dave proudly joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17, serving from 1955 to 1958.

Dave met the love of his life, Janice Johnson, and they were married on August 8, 1964. Together they had 2 children, Daniel and Carla.

Dave’s first job was at Breezy Point Resort as a caddy and a dishwasher. He was often referred to as Mr. Breezy Point Resort and did it all from dishwasher and caddy, to bartender, to resort manager. He officially retired in October 2023 but continued going to the office until June 2024.

Dave passed away on August 11, 2024, after a brave 3-year battle with lung cancer.

Dave will be dearly missed by his daughter, Carla Plourde; grandchildren, Ashlee Plourde, Zack Plourde, Joslyn Plourde & Cade Gravdahl; Cade’s mother, Tina Krieger; siblings, Sharon Ingolvstad, Mary Frost, Tim (Shelli) Gravdahl, Judy (Rick) Haphey, Lyle Amundson, & Tammy (Mike) Bargy; brother-in-law, Lee (Kathy) Johnson; and many other family and friends. Dave is preceded in death by wife, Jan; son, Dan; and parents, Arvid and Lorraine Gravdahl.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Breezy Point Resort Convention Center on Monday, August 19 at 11:00AM with luncheon to follow. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Pequot Lakes.
