Darrell Neil Vold passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family in Brainerd, MN. He was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering love for his family and his many passions.
Darrell was born on August 19, 1945, to Neil and Florence (Amundson) Vold in Grand Forks, ND. Darrell’s devotion to his family was his greatest gift. Darrell was always showing kindness. Whether with a silly joke, a snapchat, or simply his quiet presence, he made everyone feel valued and cherished.
Over the course of his time in the National Guard and career as a salesman at Border States Electric in Grand Forks, ND, Darrell touched the lives of countless individuals, both within his company and in the community. He had an ability to make everyone he met feel like they were part of his extended family.
Darrell’s love for the outdoors led him to retire at Lake Ada. He was a true craftsman, always finding joy in hobbies that brought him closer to nature or allowed him to serve others. His hands were always busy—whether woodworking, baking, or tending to his garden. His love for the outdoors was evident in his care for his tree farm, sailing on the lake, or just taking quiet walks. He also had a deep appreciation for old cars and westerns. However, perhaps his greatest joy was serving his wife, Pat, with quiet devotion. His love for her was evident in everything he did.
G-pa taught us the true meaning of loyalty and the power of compassion, showing us all what it meant to give selflessly and love deeply. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and we will cherish the many moments we had together.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Lori (Grant) Pulkrabek, Tammy (Ben) Skogerboe, and Suzanne Vold; grandchildren Tyler (Kaitlyn) Vold, Sadie (Jesse) Gilberg, Alexis Pulkrabek, Ellie (Ian Magnell) Pulkrabek, Jonah Skogerboe, Ryan Skogerboe, Leah Skogerboe, Samson Skogerboe; great-grandchildren Dash, Brinley, Baker, Maizie, Emmett, Kenley; siblings, Marilyn (Gene) Anderson, Wayne Vold, Linda DeSautel; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Pat Krenzel) Hanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Darren Vold.
