Dana Harris

Dana J. Harris, 66, of Deerwood, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at his home. Visitation for Dana will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Services will be Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Schepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Garrison with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Bay Lake Cemetery in Deerwood.

Dana was born on April 27, 1944 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Elmer and Beulah (Spracklin) Harris. Dana was a hard worker and learned to be that way at an early age when he was growing up on the family farm. After high school Dana joined the Marines serving in Vietnam. He was very dedicated and took much pride in his service as a marine. In 2001, he married Colleen in Las Vegas, Nevada. In Dana's earlier years he enjoyed water and downhill skiing and later in life he enjoyed trapping, tapping for maple syrup, and cutting wood. Dana was an avid outdoorsmen enjoying hunting and fishing throughout his life. He loved playing cribbage and gardening. Dana will always be remembered for wearing his hat with a big happy smile on his face. Dana most loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren often sharing his experiences and his love of the outdoors.

Dana will be sadly missed by his wife, Colleen (Avery); children, Troy (Jill) Harris, Angie (Jay) Halverson, Christine (Paul) Edwards, Anthony (Tanya) Kinney, Angela (Jason) Brichacek, and James Kinney; fifteen grandchildren; brothers, Darryl (Vivian) Harris, and David (Donna) Harris; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gailraye Harris and Dahrys "Birdie" Nolan; and a nephew, Darryl "Ray" Harris.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
