Dan Morgan Steffen, 55, left this earth on Sunday, July 22, 2012 doing what he loved most - flying his plane. A Celebration of Life will be held a 2:00 PM, Monday, July 30,
2012 at Crosslake Evangelical Free Church "The Log Church". Family and friends are
invited to gather one hour prior to services at the church and share memories and
stories of Dan at a reception to follow.
Dan was born April 27, 1957, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Harry and Lois (Lanning)
Steffen. Although he grew up and graduated high school in California, as a child Dan
and his family often summered in the Crosslake Area - an area that was home. His zest
and enjoyment for life earned him the nickname "Dangerous Dan". It was a title he was
only too happy to maintain as he never shied away from trying something new and
encouraging others to experience life as well. His generous, compassionate personality
made it easy to love Dan and his sense of humor kept a smile upon your face. He was
a quick friend to all and ever willing to help out. His passion for flying was only matched by the love he had for his family. Whether flying his float plane to the family cabin at Lake of Bays in Canada marveling at the tranquility and serenity of nature or operating remote-control airplanes and boats. Dan loved to live.
He will be greatly missed by many family and friends, including: wife, Lisa; daughter, Morgan; son, Cameron, mom, Lois; siblings, Tim (Mary) Steffen, of Longville, Terri (Paul Bilzerian) Steffen, of Tampa, FL, Cynthia (Rick) Haakana, of Minnetonka, Leslie (Rob Haglund) Steffen-Haglund, of Crosslake, and Greg (Kim) Steffen, of Grass Valley, CA; and his dog, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his dad, Harry; sister, Sheri; dog, Sam; and the famous goose, Daisy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Steffen Family Memorial Fund at Lakes State Bank in Crosslake, MN would be greatly appreciated.
