Dale Virgil Stettler was born on Easter Sunday, March 27, 1932, to Virgil and Velva (Swanson) Stettler, Plainview, Minnesota. Dale worked in the construction business in Rochester before entering the service. Dale served in the army as a paratrooper where he had 37 jumps and also trained other personnel. Dale was a carpenter while residing in the Twin Cities. Dale was united into marriage to Frances Madsen on June 12, 1954 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. They lived in Rochester and Roseville before moving to Nisswa in 1969 when they purchased Birch-n-Pine Resort on Roy Lake which they owned and operated until 1996. Dale was employed as a boiler tech and custodian by the Brainerd School district from 1971 until his retirement in 1992. Dale also farmed in southern Minnesota from 1958-1961. Dale loved gardening, fishing, watching the deer roam the yard and all the hummingbirds, He also enjoyed cooking various meals for his family. Dale was a member of the Brainerd American Legion. Dale is survived by his wife Frances; three sons, Duane (Paula) Stettler of Brainerd, Danny (Teresa) Stettler of Sauk Rapids, and Donald Stettler of St. Paul; Grandsons; Chad, Dillon, Tyler, and Nicholas Stettler, Granddaughters; Jessica and Tawnya; two great-grandsons; brothers, Earl (Judy) Stettler of California; Ronald (Peggy) Stettler of California; sisters, Faye Klassen of Rochester, Virginia Thayer of Kasson; Kathleen (Larry) Johnson of Missouri; Shirley (Jerry) Wilde of Rochester and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Peterson, a brother Robert, his parents and a brother-in- law, Ivan Thayer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
