Dale William Granley, 69, Pequot Lakes, passed away June 16, 2016. He was born October 4th, 1946, in Duluth, Minn., the son of Lester and Frances (Brophy) Granley. He grew up in Carlton, Minnesota where he graduated from Carlton High School in 1964. While in high school he played on the football, basketball and track and field teams. Dale later attended and graduated from Bemidji State University and worked as Tech Ed teacher before becoming a skilled carpenter. Dale once co-owned the Commander Bar in Breezy Point, Minn., which is where he met and later married his former spouse, Nancy Granley, who is mother to his sons Phillip and Cody. Dale will be greatly missed by his family and friends, including many in the Pequot Lakes area. He was known for his sense of humor and his lifelong passion for the outdoors. An avid fisherman, Dale greatly enjoyed his many fishing trips to Canada. In his later years, Dale also enjoyed working on hot rods with his sons.
Preceded in death by his parents, Dale is survived by his brother, Gerry (Carol) Granley of Cloquet and his sons: Phillip, Cody and Ben. Also survived by nephews and niece: Christopher (Marcia) Granley, Sarah (Jaye) Peterson and Jered (Mindy) Granley.
At his request, Dale will be cremated with his final resting place at Rainy Lake where he spent some of the happiest times of his life fishing among family and friends. Condolences and memorials may be sent to: Cody Granley PO Box 277 Pequot Lakes, MN 56472.
