He earned a Business and Office Education degree from Wadena Area Technical Institute, an Associate in Arts degree from Brainerd Community College and later attended St. Cloud State University. Dale served active duty with the MN Army National Guard until his retirement in 1999 as SFC with HHC, 1st Battalion, 194th Infantry at the Brainerd National Guard Armory. He was later self-employed delivering express mail for the USPS.

Dale was a loyal friend who loved ski trips, golf outings, and taking countless cross-country motorcycle trips to rallies all over the U.S. with his life-long pals. Dale was a dedicated sports fan, who avidly followed his favorite MN teams. He was a talented bowler, who enjoyed league membership in Brainerd for many years. Dale was a devoted husband, creating a lifetime of memories with his wife and best friend Pat as they enjoyed travelling across the country or simply spending quiet time together at home. Dale was the world’s best dad, always willing to share his wisdom, love, quick wit and great sense of humor. Dale was a great big kid at heart. He first enjoyed pestering his daughter, and later his grandkids, into constantly accompanying him to various local attractions like mini golf, water slides, the go-kart track, and of course, weekly movies. Dale’s proudest accomplishment in life was being an amazing, fun and loving grandpa “Boppy” to Jaden and Anna. He will be greatly missed.
