Dale Dickie

January 1, 1929 — August 16, 2019

Dale R Dickie, 90, of Crosslake, passed away peacefully at his home Friday Aug. 16, 2019 surrounded by family and loved ones.  Dale’s memorial service will be held at Crosslake Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at 11am with Pastor Kristin Oltmann officiating.  Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to the service.

Dale was born January 1, 1929 to Walter and Gladys Dickie of Cleveland, Minnesota. After graduating from Cleveland High School he attended Mankato State where he earned a business degree. Dale married Helen M. Bohnsack on April 7th 1951. While serving in the U.S. Air force he earned a degree in meteorology at Oklahoma State University, and then served two years in France working at weather stations on NATO bases. Helen and baby Linda accompanied Dale while in France. After being discharged from the Air Force, Dale enjoyed a fifty year career with Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company (Securian Financial) in Mankato and out of his home office in Crosslake. Helen worked with Dale in the office throughout the fifty years. He sold his agency and moved from Mankato to Crosslake in 1985, where they thoroughly loved their life at the lake.

Dale was active at Crosslake Lutheran Church, having served as congregational president and on several other committees. He was active in the church choir for more than twenty-five years. Dale was also active in several civic organizations, serving on the telephone commission, park and recreational commission, and the road commission. He was also president of the Crosslake/Ideal Lions club and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was president of the Life Underwriters Association. During their sixty-one years of marriage, Dale and Helen traveled extensively and in retirement thoroughly enjoyed their peaceful home on the lake shore. They were also both very avid bridge players, and Dale was able to play a great game of bridge only one week before his death.

Dale is survived by his daughters: Linda (Terry) Sexe of Lexington, South Carolina and Pamela Goerges of Crosslake (Jody Stewart of Crosby).  Sister: Susan Harrison and Brother: Melvin Dickie.
