Cyrus DuBois

Cyrus ?Cy? DuBois, died June 24, 2003 at his home. He was born June 27, 1930 in Minneapolis to Cyrus B and Nancy ?Nan? (Bent) DuBois. In 1946 he won the C.F. Kettering trophy for best-designed soap box derby car at the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio. He served in the Navy from 1948-1949. He married Jane Anne Kiefner on April 19, 1952. In 1966-67 he coached the Holy Family Middie play off champs in basketball. He was active in Little League serving as a coach for one of his sons and president of the league. During his lifetime he owned two businesses, Apparel Print in St. Louis Park and DuBois Woodcarving Gift & Sign Shop in Crosslake. His trade was tool and dye maker but his love was working with wood, either making furniture for his home or carving decorative decoys. He showed his decoy carvings at the Wildlife Heritage Show at Daytons for three years before opening his own store in Crosslake. He loved sailing both summer and winter, building his own ice boat. He had a lifelong love of dogs, never being without one.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael R. Dubois, Anoka, Peter B DuBois (Denise) Minnetonka, Thomas J. DuBois, Brooklyn Park and three daughters, Sue A Bettermann, (Dr. Larry D.), Highlands Ranch, Co, Patti K. Cothren, (Joey), Florissant, MO, Mary E. DuBois, Somerville, MA; sister, Nancy Goughnour, Mound, 5 grandchildren, Brook DuBois, Andrew DuBois, Sean DuBois, Tyler DuBois, Erin DuBois; two great-grandchildren, Europe DuBois-Guy and Raven DuBois and seven step-grandchildren, and his beloved dogs Rambo and Rachel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 26 at 11 AM at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church with Father Dennis Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 ? 7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake with parish prayers at 7. Visitation also 1 hour before the service at the church. Grave side services will be at 5PM at the Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake where full Military Honors will be provided by the Crosslake American Legion Post #500.
