Cyril Bruce Case, 76, of Staples, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 20, 2008 after a short battle with esophageal cancer at the Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Stephen Sveom officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, 2008 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment with Honors will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples. Bruce was born on April 13, 1932, in Staples to Cyril and Lillian Case and attended school in Staples, graduating with the class of 1950. He married Faye Spencer of Staples, on October 24, 1952. In 1953 he joined the U.S. Army serving in Germany and following his honorable discharge in 1955 he worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad (Burlington Northern) for 35 years. He was also a rural carrier for the Star Tribune for 16 of those years. Bruce served as a member of the board of directors for the Heartland Federal Credit Union. He was a very avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Staples Cardinals. Bruce is survived by his wife; six sons; Lanny (Deb) of Maple Grove, Mark of New Prague, David (Cheryl) of Temecula, CA, Mike (Becky) of Austin, Craig (Karmen) of Webster, SD, Ron (Jamie) of Staples; one daughter; Barbara of Staples; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Suzanne.
