Curtis Evert

Curtis Evert, 79, of Brainerd, passed away on October 13, 2024. He grew up in Saint Paul, attended Central HS, played basketball for Macalester College and graduated from the U of M. Curt raised his family in Eden Prairie, retired from the insurance and financial planning business and moved to Gull Lake and Arizona.

Curt is survived by his high school sweetheart Julie (Sunny)with whom he shared 56 years and two sons, Erik (Amy) and Rob (Kristin). He was a proud grandfather to Charlie, George, Kendall and Connor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and John Evert and is survived by his brothers Jack (Sally) and Howard and many extended family members.

He loved to be on the water, be it on his boat or on a cruise ship. He was an enthusiastic sports supporter, an avid reader, and Corvette aficionado. He supported his church, community and country by serving on numerous boards and as an Army Reservist and longtime Rotarian.

Curt had an unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. He was known for his great humor, quick wit and strong opinions. “A tall guy with a big heart”.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                A service and celebration in honor of Curt’s life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
