Colleen Mellgren

Colleen Mae Mellgren, age 64, of Blair, NE, and formerly Eden Prairie, MN, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 in Omaha, NE. She was born January 9, 1946, in Brainerd, to Elmer and Blanche Olson.

Colleen worked at Scott County as a 911 dispatcher for 20 years. She retired in 2005 and moved to Blair, NE to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Colleen loved playing with her grandchildren and bragging about her kids. She loved her Pekinese dog ‘Dora' and could be seen in Blair at any hour of the day walking Dora or pushing Dora in her doggie stroller. Spending time with loved ones was most important to Colleen. In a recent birthday card to her son she wrote, "Your family will be the gold brick of your life time". Colleen would want everyone present at Maple Hill today, present in body or spirit, to become closer as family and friends as a result of this gathering.

Colleen is survived by her daughter, Lisa Svendgard and husband Peter of Blair, NE; son, Scott Mellgren and wife Sonia of Everett, WA; brother, Dennis Olson and wife, Karen of Anoka; sister, Cynthia Gish and husband, Myrun of Pequot Lakes; grandchildren, Isaiah, Lilian, Haley, Ashley; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Olson of Motley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Jerry.

Services will be 1 PM on Saturday, April 17, at Maple Hill Lutheran Church, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
