Clifford Miller

Clifford E. Miller, age 85, of Leader, passed away at the Tri County Hospital in Wadena on Sunday July 23, 2006. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday July 28th at 11:00 AM at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples with Rev. Brian Burton officiating. There will be a time to visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Swan Valley Cemetery in Leader. Clifford was born on April 23, 1921 in Byron Township to Ewald and Laurine (Jorgensen) Miller. They raised him along with his brother and 6 sisters on the family farm. He attended the Meadowbrook School. In 1943 Clifford met his future wife at a barn dance near Moose Lake and after a three year courtship he married Emma Vargo on August 31, 1946 in Pequot Lakes. Clifford built his own house, barn, and other buildings on his farm. He farmed for 55 years, retiring last year at the age of 84. Clifford loved dogs and raised many of them over the years, all of which were named Girlie. He enjoyed farming, raising pigs, and most of all putting up hay, family dinners with his children and grandchildren, especially fish caught by David and Daniel. He also loved to travel with Emma to the West Coast to visit his daughters and sisters. Clifford is survived by his wife, Emma; children, Marlene Miller of Santa Anna, CA, Susan Miller of Santa Anna, CA, David (Jackie) Miller of Motley; grandchildren, Christine, Amy, and Daniel; and five sisters, Ruth, Pearl, Laurine, Effie, and Edith. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Clarence, and a sister Ethel. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
