Clayton Allen Christopherson, 85, of Baxter, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Good Samaritan Village - Bethany in Brainerd. Graveside services for Clayton will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley with a memorial service held at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter at 12:00 PM after the services at the cemetery. Luncheon and visitation will follow the memorial service at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Hall in Baxter.
Clayton was born on January 20, 1926 in Clitherall, MN to Fred and Ella (Bogen) Christopherson. Clayton served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged from the service Clayton worked at Land O Lakes and Holsum Bread Company before owning and operating Lakeview Store and Gift Shop in Outing, MN until his retirement. Family will remember Clayton as a very hard-working person. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, and just being outdoors.
Clayton is survived by his wife of 54 years, Arlene (Jessick); children, Sharon (Danny) Chisholm of Merrifield, MN, Cheryl (Justin) Borders of East Gull Lake, MN, Kurt (Julie) Christopherson of Elk River, MN, and Lonnie (Shawn) Wodarz of Brainerd, MN; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard (Carol) of Coon Rapids, MN and Chris (Diane) of Clitherall, MN; sister, Shirley Husby of St. James, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orville; sister-in-law, Beatrice Christopherson; brother-in-law, John Husby; and niece Janet Christopherson.
