Clarinda Gumke, age 62, of Verndale, passed away at the St. Cloud hospital on Thursday, June 25. Services are planned for Tuesday, June 30, at 1:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Verndale. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples and one hour prior to the service, at the church. Burial will be in the Green Lawn cemetery in Verndale.
Clarinda was born on July 18, 1946, in Steele, North Dakota, to George and Maggie (Kapp) Miller. She attended school in Deer Creek and high school in Wadena. She worked for Home Crest, as a welder, for almost 20 years, retiring in 1993. In August of 2000, she married Harry Gumke. Clarinda enjoyed gardening, canning, rummage sales, and flea markets. She was a sales representative for Park Lane Jewelry and was a member of the Verndale United Methodist Church.
Clarinda is survived by her husband, Harry; children, Russ (Debby) Andrews Jr. of Sartell, MN, Landa (Terry) Ackerman of Piggot, AR, and Ronda (Steve) Symons of Knoxville, TN; step children, Joe (Charlene) Gumke of Gonzales, CA, Angela Gumke of Breckenridge, MN, and Michelle (Greg) Winter of Hollister, CA; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, LeRoy Miller; sisters, Violet Zimmer and Edna Peterson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Maggie; step father, Herb Heubner; a sister, Adeline; and a brother Erwin.
