Clarence Vinje

February 15, 1938 — May 9, 2003

Clarence ?Punk? Vinje, age 65, of Carlton, formerly of Brainerd, died on Friday, May 9, 2003 in Duluth. Clarence was born on February 15, 1938 in Granite Falls to Clarence and Berniece (Fruin) Vinje. He grew up on a dairy farm in the South Long Lake Area and graduated from Brainerd High School. He received a football scholarship to North Dakota State University (NDSU) where he attended classes and played football for 3 years. After college he returned to Brainerd where he was an independent logger/truck driver until 1987. In 1987 he moved to the Duluth area where he semi-retired and continued to drive truck. He was a well known individual in the trucking community.
Punk is survived by daughter Vicki (Glenn) Brummer of Corcoran; sons Michael (Lisa) Vinje of Maple Grove, Thomas (Susan) Vinje of Baxter; sister Patricia (James) O?Toole of Tea, SD; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His parents and brother William preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, May 18, 2003 at Brenny Funeral Chapel, 2021 Excelsior Blvd, Baxter, MN (218-828-5051), with Rev. Bob Twiton of Bethel Lutheran Church officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be one hour prior to the service.
