Clarence W. Nelson, 92, of Staples, MN died at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN on Friday, July 10, 2015. A Memorial Service for Clarence will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 11:00AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, MN at 11:00AM with Pastor Steve Sveom and Rev. Daryl Jacobson-Chaplain officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN from 5:00-7:00PM. Private Family Interment will be held at a later date at Poplar Cemetery.

Clarence was born on December 2, 1922 on a farm near Freedhem, MN to Knute and Anna (Hahn) Nelson. He attended country school before entering the United States Navy during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, Clarence married Enid Limmesand on March 14, 1950 on her family farm in Binford, ND. They lived and farmed there for five years before moving to Leader, MN in 1955. Clarence farmed and was a mechanic all of his working years. In 2010 Clarence and Enid moved to Staples, MN where he was a resident until his death. Clarence liked working on machinery, hunting, and fishing. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his optimism, and that twinkle in his eye. Clarence's greatest pride was his family, and he loved spending time with them.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 65 years, Enid; children, Susan Nelson (Mike) of Ramona, CA, Kristine Nelson (Les) of Aitkin, MN; Bradley (Roxanne) Nelson of Verndale, MN, and Louise Dvorak (Tom) of Crosby, MN; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Richard, Leonard, Isla Erickson, Glen, Eugene, and Gerald. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory; three sisters, Jeanette, Margaret, and Evelyn; and two brothers, Charles and Willard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
