Christopher Stone

Christopher D. Stone, age 52, of Staples, passed away on Sunday, September 8. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, September 12, from 4-7, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.

Chris was born on November 26, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Erman "Dale" and Gayle (McTigue) Stone. He grew up there and graduated from high school in 1978. He went on to receive a Bachelors Degree from St. Louis University and his Masters in Business from Fontbonne University. On December 30, 1986, he married Katherine Bailly in Edwardsville, Illinois, and together they raised their two children. The family moved at times for Chris's work, living in Illinois and Texas, before coming to Staples in 1999. Chris enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and games, especially backgammon. He collected gadgets, tools, and anything that had Jack Daniels on it. He was a devoted father and loyal friend, always supporting his kids, and loved spending time with friends and going to Vikings games and watching golf. He loved giving "Stoney" hugs


Chris is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Katie and Matt; a brother, John; as well as his nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers the family would like you to bring something that reminds you of Chris, or send memorials to the American Diabetes Association or Ducks Unlimited.
