Chester F. Moon, 95, of Brainerd died on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Funeral services for Chester will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be held at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Chester was born on April 1, 1916 in Villard, Minnesota to George and Mila Belle (Ingold) Moon. He attended Bridgeman Country School. He then worked on the family farm near Pillager before entering the Army during WWII. Chester married Marlene Engebretson on October 21,1953. They briefly owned Texaco Gas Station in Brainerd, while continuing to work on the farm. Chester then worked for 18 years at Blue Ox Creamery. He also worked at a garment factory, as a guard at the paper mill and the State Hospital. They moved to Brainerd in 1982.
Chester is survived by his daughters, Janet Milene of Brainerd, Jean Murdock of Pillager; sons, Glen (Kathleen) Moon of Motley, Karl (Diane) Moon of Pequot Lakes, and Daryl (Janet) Moon of Pillager; grandchildren, Tammi, Dennis, Becki, Keri, Melinda, Jennifer, Jayme, Shena, Kristina, Kathrine, Krystal, Kayla, Samantha, Joshua, Cherilyn, Melanie, Jacob and Benjamin; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Agnes Brons; brother, Aaron (Evelyn) Moon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 48 years Marlene; brother, Donald; sister, Esse Rogers; great-granddaughters, Ashlynn and Alessandra Slaybough.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
