Cheryl "Cherie" Arvis, age 64, of Ironton, MN, passed away surrounded by family at the Crosby Care Center on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Cherie was born on March 15, 1949, in Wadena, to the late Clyde "Doug" and Lucille (Olson) Swanson. She attended school in Sebeka.
Cherie is survived by her husband, Frank Arvis of Ironton; daughter, Carri Larson (Eric) of Royalton; son, Brian Burgau of Motley; son, Troy Burgau (Shanon) of Brainerd; daughter, Trisha Skeesick (Travis) of Cushing; stepson, Shane Arvis of Minneapolis; stepdaughter, Christina Arvis of Albert Lea; 9 grandchildren: Bridget (Chris), Kasey (Chris), Jerry, Haley, Brandon, Trey, Tytan, Amanda, Mariah; step grandson, Eric; 6 great grandchildren: Landen, Katelynn, Airen, Ava, Faith, Brayden; brother, Duane Swanson (Rita) of Nimrod; sister, Vickie Iverson (Roy) of Mesa, AZ; sister, Debra Swanson of Phoenix, AZ; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen Roth; two former husbands, Ron Burgau and Marv Burgau; and stepdaughter, Shannon.
Cherie enjoyed being with family, riding motorcycle with her husband, Frank, and their good friends, Jim and Shelly, playing bingo, and taking care of her flowerbeds. Most of all, Cherie was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, sister and friend. She will be forever missed by all who knew her. We love you, Mom!
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 PM on Friday, April 12, at Sebeka United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
