Charles Spain

Charles Burton “Burt” Spain, age 80, of Hackensack, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at his home. Burt was born to William “Bill” and Evelyn Ralya Spain on July 31, 1933, in Brainerd. He graduated from Hackensack High School in 1951. Burt was a gentle spirit, a friend to all and will be forever in our hearts.

Burt is survived by his sister, Kathleen Palo (Allen) of Plano, TX; nieces: Karen Houser (Tom) of Ham Lake, MN, Pat Opheim (Ernie) of New Hope, MN, Ginny Spain-Johnson (Jim) of Akeley, MN; nephews: Scott Pipenhagen (Suzzie) of Fredericksburg, VA, William Capener (Cindy) of Farmer’s Branch, TX, Todd Capener (Michelle) of North Colony, TX, Brian Capener (Jenni) of South Colony, TX; many cousins, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Spain Pipenhagen; brother, William Byron Spain; niece, Linda Spain; and nephew, Gary Pipenhagen.

Services will be 2 PM on Saturday, March 29, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hackensack. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
