Charles Judd

Charles Matthew Judd, 81, of Cushing, MN, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at his home. Services will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Brenny Funeral Home in Randall, visitation is one hour prior to service.

He was born February 21, 1931 in Moran Township, Todd County, to the late Floyd & Gertrude (Cordie) Judd. He attended elementary schools at Randall & Cushing District 1206. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1949. Charles had various jobs until July 1962 when he enrolled in Northern Illinois University for a 3-month training course to enter the Peace Corps. Before this group left for Malaya they had an evening program & supper with Sergeant Shriver & President John F. Kennedy. During his service in Malaysia he was responsible to the Ministry of Works, Posts, and Telecommunications. He served as a heavy equipment supervisor assigned to the Public Works Department for the State of Pahong. As a Peace Corps Volunteer he supervised the construction of roads & culverts, helped to train operators for heavy equipment and was in charge of the Tulau Tiomen project, which included supervision of operators, plant drilling, and blasting crews on a joint project between the military & Public Works Department to develop an unpopulated island off the East Coast of Malaya. Returning to the States he returned to Sandia Corporation of Albuquerque, NM as a fabricator & tester of electronic equipment. After returning to Minnesota in 1967 he worked for various road contractors until becoming an appraiser for Morrison County in 1980 till his retirement in 1996. He was united in marriage to Joan Pekarek November 14, 1986. They just celebrated 26 years of marriage.

Charles is survived by his wife Joan, step-daughter, Janice (John D.) Stavish, of Cushing; step-son, Emmett Eller, of St. Paul; sisters, Delona (Angelo) Smieja, of Hackensack, Eileen Shabel, of Grey Eagle, Elaine (Ken) Hagen, of Golden Valley, Elizabeth (Bob) Haranahan, of Little Falls, and Mary Ann Hines. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and his early morning "Koffee Klatch" friends at the BP. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother.
