Charles (Charlie) Duane Geiger, age 75 of Merrifield, MN went to be with our Lord Saturday, January 9, 2021 at home.
Charlie was born November 1, 1945 in St. James, MN to Herman and Alice (Hultgren) Geiger.
After graduation from St. James High School, he completed basic training at Ft. Jackson. SC and worked at Peterson Motors as a mechanic. He then went to Patrol school and started his career with the MN State Patrol as a trooper on April 7, 1971. During the next few years he was promoted to Sergeant and then Lieutenant while living in Rosemount, MN.
On June 27, 1981 Charlie married the love of his life Jan (Mattsen) Geiger in St. Paul, MN and continued to live in Rosemount with her and his daughter Becky until he was promoted again to Captain in 1984 that led them to live in Eveleth, MN. In 1989 he was promoted to Major that brought him and his family to live in the Brainerd area. He retired on November 7. 2000 and had served 29 years and 7 months with the MN State Patrol.
Charlie had so many gifts and talents that he willingly shared with so many. He would always drop whatever he was doing to lend a hand. He loved to support and cheer on his grandsons in their sports and activities and enjoyed going to BIR to watch his nephew race. He loved being outside and would easily find him doing something in the garage or in the yard or on the lake fishing. He adored and was so proud of his family and put them all on the highest pedestal.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 39 years. Jan; daughter Becky (Jason) Kubesh of Brainerd, MN, four grandsons. Austin (Kassondra), Cole, Beau and Landon Kubesh; great grand daughter Gracelynn; brother Richard (Nancy) Geiger of Onalaska , WI and sister LaVonne (Keith) O’Brien of Shoreview, MN; 5 nieces and 1 nephew.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; one sister Diane; and one brother Vern.
Due to Covid limited seating is available during the service. The service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Nisswa, MN. The service will be livestreamed on the church website. www.lccnisswa.org.
Services have been entrusted with the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
