Flatz, Charles Z ChuckAge 33, of Crosslake and Timothy Township, formerly of Champlin passed away January 8th, 2006.
Funeral services will be 1 PM, Thursday, January 12 at Crosslake Lutheran Church, with Reverend Mark Anderson officiating. Friends may visit Wednesday evening, from 6-8 PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake and at the church during the hour prior to services. Interment will be at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake. Chuck was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who loved all aspects of hunting and fishing. He had an unselfish willingness to share his knowledge of and introduce others to outdoor sports equaled only by a humble desire to learn more himself. Chuck was a private pilot at the age of 17, earned his instrument rating at 18 and held a commercial pilots license at age 20. After discovering he was color blind he entered the family business where he oversaw production and distribution along with being an accomplished mechanic and welder. When the business had to close in 2001 he moved to Crosslake where he was finishing his electrician apprenticeship working for his cousin Mick. Crosslake is where his mother was raised and he wholly loved the rural style of living. Chuck was in the process of building a home in Timothy Township when his cancer finally wore him down to the point where he could no longer continue his dream of a house in the woods. Chucks final weeks were spent with his parents in Champlin where he passed away in the comfort of his own bed. His battle with cancer was more than courageous, he sought every avenue and endured more than most should in several lifetimes. Chucks nature remained benevolent to the end always taking time to write thank youor good job. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends and medical staff are too numerous to mention. We are eternally grateful to the so-many who did so-much. Without minimizing our thanks to others we have to give special thanks to Aunt Sadie, cousin Mick, best friend Jim, Marlene and Dr. Adams. We all love you Chuck, please watch over us.
