Charles Bielefeld, 93, of Verndale, MN passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN. Services for Charles will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, August 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Father Joe Korf officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8PM, Tuesday, August 16 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples and one hour prior to services at the church. Prayer service will be at 7:45PM. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Charles was born December 22, 1922 in Goodale, Iowa to Charles and Leona (Hood) Bielefeld. He walked to country school and graduated from high school in Rockwell, Iowa. Charles served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Margaret Smith on January 29, 1951 in Loudes, Iowa. Charles and Margaret farmed near Dougherty, Iowa and later at Lime Springs, Iowa and Osage, Iowa. Farming was Charles' life. Charles worked at the Oliver Tractor Foundry in Charles City, Iowa for many years. He later worked for 3 years at the ammunition factory in Anoka, MN. He loved to fix antique John Deere tractors, Sunday afternoon picnics and rides, and horses. Charles most loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his wife, Margaret (Dutch); daughters, Colleen Weber, Sandra Sneed; grandchildren, Michelle Weber, Mark Weber; great grandchildren, Bianca Weber and Owen Weber; sister, Patty Smith; sister in law, Lenora Bielefeld; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Leona; sons, Patrick and Joseph; infant daughter, Mary; brothers, Bill, Walt and Daryl; sister, Joann Smith; brothers in law, Merlyn Smith and Warren Smith; sister in law, Mary Moore and her husband, Phil Moore. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
