Cecelia Meyer

Cecelia M. “Sally” Meyer, 78, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Essentia Health – St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. A Christian Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes.

Sally was born October 12, 1940, in Grand Forks, ND. She graduated from high school and went to right to work. She started working for General Electric in New York prior to moving to the Minneapolis Area. She worked for GE in various roles for 25 years. Sally then started her second career at Sundstrand Mobile Controls performing administrative tasks for the next 15 years before she retired.

Sally married Kenneth W. Meyer on January 12, 1974. She readily accepted Ken’s two children as her own. The family made their home in the Minneapolis Area before moving to Pequot Lakes in 2001. When they were younger they enjoyed camping with the children and maintaining a large vegetable garden and as they got older, living on the lake provided much joy. Sally had a very giving heart and a volunteer spirit – always willing to lend a hand to support those in need. She put her joy for gardening to work at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She was adventurous and truly loved living life.

She will be missed by her husband, Ken; daughter, Lisa (Ashworth Payne, Jr.) Meyer; son, Byron (Judi) Meyer; grandson, Chance Meyer; and sisters, Joan Ophaug and Margie Waechter. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, A. Martin Fabel; and sister, Edith Stolski.
