Carolyn J. Carlson, 66, of Crosslake, died at her home Saturday, December 26, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 31 at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake with Father Michael Patullo officiating. Friends are welcome to gather Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake and Thursday morning one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Swanburg Cemetery in Timothy Township.
Carolyn was born November 28, 1943, in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Cecil and Dorothy (Busch) McDonald. Carolyn was a 1961 graduate of Wahpeton High School in North Dakota. She married David Carlson in 1984. She worked for many years in a bakery in Pequot Lakes. Carolyn was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 500 in Crosslake where she was Vice President for a number of years. She enjoyed needlepoint, flower gardening and taking care of her house plants. Carolyn loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
She will be missed by her children, Tim (Cindy) Walter, of Hutchinson and Melissa Walter, of Brainerd; seven grandchildren; and her siblings, Diane Doll, of Blaine, Patty (Bob) McElhaney, of Anoka, and Gerald (Darlene) McDonald, of Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her children, Suzette, Cathryn, and Kyle; her parents, Dorothy and Cecil; and her sisters, Mary Martinson and Francine Bohn.
