Carol Elaine Meyer (Gabbert), age 82, of Hackensack, formerly of Plymouth (Wayzata), MN, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She is now at peace after her 28 year battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Born October 8, 1931, in Long Lake, MN, to Louis and Theodora "Dora" Gabbert. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Gordon, Donald, Kenneth Gabbert (Connie); sister, Dolores Lubowitz (Tony). Survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Leon "Lee"; daughters: Linda Meyer of Crystal, MN, Laurie Paquette (Tom) and grandchildren, Justin and Joshua all of Plymouth; her dear sister-in-law, Marlene Gabbert of Plymouth; nieces and nephew.
Carol and Lee lived in Delano, MN, until 1953, when they moved to Wayzata. After raising their family in Plymouth they retired to the shores of Baby Lake outside of Hackensack in 1986. They later moved "into the woods" north of Hackensack.
Carol worked at Underwriters Inspection Bureau, was a stay-at-home mom, provided daycare in her home and was a receptionist at Schaper Manufacturing and later at Tennant Co.
Services will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 6, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be 2 PM on Thursday at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
Memorials are preferred to the family.
