Carol Marden

December 15, 1938 – November 12, 2024

Carol Beverly Marden, age 85, of Staples, Minnesota, passed away on November 12, 2024. She was born on December 15, 1938, in New York Mills, Minnesota, to parents Arnold and Anna (Maasch) Selander.

Carol graduated from New York Mills High School and, after completing her education, moved to California where she worked at a local bank. Eventually, Carol returned to Minnesota, where she met and married Phillip Marden.

Carol’s life was rich with faith and service. She was an active member of her church, where she shared her love of quilting with others, creating beautiful works of art that brought joy to many.

Carol is survived by her three children, Cherie (Jose) Parker, Sue (Mark) Bendson, and Kathy Blessing; her brother, Wayne (Donna) Selander; and her in-laws, Lucille Selander, Walter Krantz, and Noreen Selander. Carol's memory lives on through her many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Marden, her first husband Clarence D. Parker; sons James Marden and Stuart Parker; son in law Bob Blessing; siblings Howard Selander, Dorothy Krantz, Maurice Selander, Merle Marden, Mildred “Millie” Polk, and Alden Selander; and her parents.

A funeral prayer service will be held at 1pm at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples on Friday, November 15, 2024, followed by interment at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, MN.
