Carol Lapka

Carol Denise Lapka, 85, of Brainerd, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Essentia Health - St. Joseph's Medical Center. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 15, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in Pillager. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services.

Carol was born August 20, 1931, in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Floyd and Agnes (Sage) Perkins. She met her husband while attending Pillager High School and in 1948 she married Norbert Lapka. In addition to being the consummate homemaker, Carol also helped operate Norbert's TV and Yamaha in Brainerd - a company she and Norbert owned until 1984. Family was the center of her world; Carol loved being a mom to her four children and cherished every second with her 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed making things pretty - her yard, her garden and with decorating. She belonged to the Red Hats Club and was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church in Pillager.

She will be missed by her children, Bruce (Barb) Lapka, of Brainerd, Linda (Dennis) Bentler, of Brainerd, Jeff (Carol) Lapka, of Minneapolis, and Richard (Greta) Lapka, of Brainerd; brother, Floyd (Evelyn) Perkins; sister, Deborah (Gary) Nickerson; and brother-in-law, Lloyd (Patricia) Lapka. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Norbert.
