Carol Ann (Larson) Faldet Johnson, of Baxter, died Friday, September 22, 2006 at her home in Baxter, Minnesota after battling cancer for six years. She was born January 13, 1938 to Roy E. and Esther M. (Bergeson) Larson at their farm in Winsor Township, Clearwater County, Minnesota. She attended the Winsor Grade School and Gonvick High School where she was active in band and chorus. She was married to James Faldet on April 20, 1956 and they had five children. Carol Ann loved being a wife and mom and living on a farm. She was active in church activities and Music Boosters and served on several boards. She took adult wood work classes with Frank Lien and refinishing and caning classes with Shirley Brovold; activities she enjoyed for the rest of her life. Family was of utmost importance to her and in addition to her immediate family she cultivated a close relationship with all of her aunts, uncles and cousins in her age group. Carol Ann attended Bemidji State University, studied toward a degree in Community Service (Applied Psychology) and graduated in May of 1988. She worked in Community Action Agencies in Crookston, Oklee and Brainerd. She also worked part time in Lutheran Social Services Group Homes in Thief River Falls and Brainerd.
In July of 1995 she moved to the Brainerd area. While there she bought a home, started adult foster care and met and married Chester Johnson in May of 2000. Carol Ann also retired that May but she and Chet continued adult foster care until health issues forced them to give it up in the spring of 2004. They lived in their Borden Lake home until 2006 when they purchased a town home in Baxter.
Carol Ann is survived by her husband, daughter, Karen (Gary) Oftelie, Bemidji, MN; sons, Tim (Jeannine) Faldet, Duluth, MN, Doug (Teresa) Faldet, Moorhead, MN, and Darwin (Brenda) Faldet of Gonvick, MN. Grandchildren, Jerry and Jennifer Oftelie, Kay Faldet, Nolan and Nathan Faldet, and Cassie and Kaylee Faldet. Two sister, LaVone (Gordon) Peterson, of Mentor, MN and Texas and Renae (Gale) Mugge of Hoyt Lakes, MN; and brother Vern (Marvella) Larson, of Hoyt Lakes, MN and Texas, Gerald Larson of Middle River, MN and Kermit (Wanda) Larson of South Dakota and Texas.
She is also survived by four step-daughters and spouses, 14 step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Todd and granddaughter, Rachel.
Services will be at Faith Baptist Church in Brainerd, Minnesota on 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 25, 2006 with Reverend Jim Goodew officiating. Friends may visit during the hour prior to the service.
A second service will be at Elim Brethren Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, Minnesota at 11:00 am on Monday, September 25, 2006 with Revered Fred Martin officiating. Friends may visit during the hour prior to the service.
She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Clearbrook, Minnesota.
